Architect Geoffrey Pyle transformed a timber barn into a stunning family home, blending history with contemporary style.
He contrasted the original oak frame with concrete and glass elements. Skylights brighten the interior while maintaining the rural character with various opening sizes. The house features a double-height hallway, polished concrete floors, and garden access. Situated on about 4 acres, it includes several outbuildings. Upstairs, two reception rooms offer differing atmospheres: airy and homely.
This project was featured in the book “Barns: Living in Converted and Reinvented Spaces” (2004) by Dominic Bradbury and in the English Heritage publication “English Heritage – Guide To Barn Conversions” (2006).
