Somerset Water Mill : Restoring Heritage

Discover the sensitive updates to restore this historic Water Mill that had been operational until 1935

O2i Design was entrusted with overseeing its restoration and maintaining its historical integrity while implementing essential updates.

There were extensive renovations, including the conversion of the existing garage into a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and utility room, relocation of bedrooms and bathrooms, alterations to the ground-level entrance and staircase access to the cellar, and thermal insulation enhancements. Roof renovations, featuring new roof lights and repairs to the towering square tapered brick chimney, were also executed. This project earned recognition as a finalist in the SW Regional LABC Building Excellence Awards 2020. The builders were Somerton Property Maintenance and Michael Howley Builder who brought this heritage project to life.
