The Royal Bath & West of England Society has started transforming the Society’s former offices on the Showground into a forward-looking Agri-Tech & Food Innovation Centre. The Society sees this innovative project as a continuation of its core values and the importance it places on the improvement and encouragement of Agriculture, Manufacture, Commerce and the Arts.
O2i Design's Architects and Designers were commissioned to produce the design scheme, gain planning permission and the statutory building regulations required for this building.
The new scheme incorporates conference & seminar facilities; commercial test kitchen for start-up food businesses; meeting facilities for one-to-one business advice and commercial office space for agricultural, food or rural-focussed companies. Innovation is at the heart of this project and the new centre will provide support to the growing community of agricultural, technology and food and drink businesses across the region. It is anticipated that this new centre will be the regional hub for food and drink producers.
The new project was unveiled to the public during the Royal Bath & West show this summer and an open consultation has taken place with key stakeholders. Work is now underway for this exciting new facility and it is hoped that many users will benefit from this accommodation to test, research, collaborate, grow and expand in their areas of expertise.
Work began earlier this year after the O2i Design team assisted the Society’s offices to relocate on the showground.
The new Rural Enterprise Centre is scheduled to open in January 2018.
